Workshop I: American Cancer Society Services to Support Patients, Caregivers and Survivors (at your convenience)
Listen to this pre-recorded panel discussion of American Cancer Society Volunteer leaders in the California Division. Topics addressed include new services to increase quality of life and how to more efficiently connect patients and caregivers with services and information. You must complete this workshop before participating in Workshop Two. Click here to access this recording and download the materials.

Workshop II: Enhancing Cross-Cultural Communication and Support for Patients and Caregivers (choose one):
Monday, June 11, 2012 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. OR Wednesday, July 11, 2012 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Participate in this live teleconference to discuss communication do’s and don’ts when working with cancer patients and caregivers, the impact of culture on a cancer diagnosis and recovery, as well as how to provide more culturally sensitive services and support to patients and caregivers of varying cultural backgrounds. Register for the date of your choice in the Volunteer Learning Center. You must complete this workshop before participating in Workshop Three.

Workshop III: Supporting Patients and Caregivers Facing End-of-Life (choose one):
Monday, June 18, 2012 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. OR Wednesday, July 18, 2012 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Participate in this live teleconference to discuss how to best support patients and caregivers facing advanced cancer. Learn about recent updates to end-of-life planning including advance directives and POLST. Discuss myths about pain management and learn about the Society’s palliative care recommendations for patients throughout all stages of the cancer journey and how you can help. Register for the date of your choice in the Volunteer Learning Center.

Step One:
Log in to www.ACSMissionTraining.org with your Username and Password.
If you have not yet chosen a Username and Password, click Create a User Profile, complete the profile online, and then log in to the website.

Step Two:
Once you’ve logged in, click the link to register for the Patient Support Training Workshop on the upper left side of your screen.
Step Three:
Click the appropriate links in the Volunteer Learning Center to listen to Workshop One at your convenience (it is a recorded teleconference), and register for the live offerings of Workshop Two and Three on the dates of your choice.

You will receive a confirmation email and two reminder emails for each training sent directly to your Inbox with materials and dial-in information.
