Patient Service Coordination
One of the functions of the Network is to connect patients, caregivers, and survivors with the support and information they need, when they need it. This is a joint effort between local Field Staff who promote the Society’s services to the local community, Cancer Resource Specialists who connect people with the services they need, and Volunteers who provide the actual services in the local community. We are all a part of the Network, creating a network of support for everyone who contacts the Society to increase quality of life.

| No matter how a patient, caregiver, or survivor contacts the American Cancer Society (800#, website, referral from physician, walk in to local office, etc.), they will get connected to the Cancer Resource Specialist at the Network who covers that constituent’s area of California. |
|
The Specialist talks with the constituent about her/his situation, identifies key areas of need, and shares options for information and support. Any information the constituent requests is sent directly via email or postal mail (ex: information about cancer, treatments, clinical trials, managing side effects, etc.) If the constituent wishes to receive services from the Society, the Specialist connects the constituent with programs in her/his local community (support groups, Road to Recovery, Look Good…Feel Better, etc.). |
| YOU, our volunteers, provide the direct service and support to the patient, caregiver, or survivor. |
